Miss Universe GB

NOT IN VAIN

The Miss Universe Great Britain NOT IN VAIN campaign has been developed with the aim of empowering young women, fundraising for charity and supporting international female causes.

Empowering women: As an organisation run by women, for women, we are keen to encourage young women to grow in confidence, build their self-esteem and reach for their goals on both a personal and professional level. By being involved in the Miss Universe Great Britain process, our contestants will meet other like-minded women who are intent on growing as individuals. One of the highlights of the annual final is the NOT IN VAIN empowerment day lead by the UK’s foremost youth leadership coach for our finalists. A business bursary prize is also given to a finalist excelling in business.

Fundraising for charity: The Miss Universe GB brand provides a unique experience for young women from all walks of life to come together to fundraise as a unified group for good causes. The platform, provides an incredible opportunity for individuals to raise money in a way, which may not always be possible independently. Since being involved with the Miss Universe organisation, the Miss Universe GB competition has raised thousands of pounds for our our adopted charity Strongbones Children’s Charitable Trust.

Supporting international female causes: From 2015 onwards the Miss Universe Great Britain event will actively support Sheroes Hangout – an initiative in Agra, India, which supports women who are survivors of acid attacks. The café employs the women while supporting them with the life and business skills to become entrepreneurs of the future.

Miss Universe GB will financially support the organisation’s crowd funding initiatives and help raise the profile of the initiative in the UK. The Miss Universe Great Britain titleholder will also visit the café personally each spring as part of her reign to show support.

Annually at the Miss Universe Great Britain final, a number of awards are presented to finalists in line with our NOT IN VAIN message. They are:

  • Miss Charity – an award presented to the finalist who has raised the most for charity presented by Strongbones Children’s Charitable Trust
  • Business Bursary – a six month long business bursary sponsored and presented by Elsby & Co to support a young woman in business
  • NOT IN VAIN campaign award presented by the national director of Miss Universe Great Britain to the finalist who has excelled in her personal development journey during her time as a finalist.
