Miss Universe GB

NOT IN VAIN

The Miss Universe Great Britain NOT IN VAIN campaign has been developed with the aim of empowering young women and supporting international female causes. We consider ourselves feminists in heels.

Empowerment Day

As an organisation run by women, for women, we are keen to encourage young women to grow in confidence, build their self-esteem and reach for their goals on both a personal and professional level. By being involved in the Miss Universe Great Britain process, our contestants will meet other like-minded women who are intent on growing as individuals. One of the highlights of the annual final is the NOT IN VAIN empowerment day lead by the UK’s foremost youth leadership coach for our finalists where the finalists spend a day focusing on stepping outside their comfort zone and focusing on their aims and ambitions. This is done with a day of breaking wooden boards with their bare hands and bending iron rods with their necks.

Awards

As part of our message of the advancement of young women, we also run a series of specialist awards at Miss Universe Great Britain.

  • Business Bursary A business bursary sponsored by Elsby & Co Chartered Accountants which involves six-month high-level business coaching by a mentor with more than 30 years success in business. The award is for a finalist who is an aspiring entrepreneur or already running her own business.
  • Her Leadership Award This is sponsored by www.entreprenher.co.uk and gives one finalist the opportunity to visit India to teach a workshop of her own making to girls in a remote school in rural India. The school’s aim is to provide education in young girls in order to keep them from child marriage using football as it’s main activity.
  • NOT IN VAIN Award This is a trophy presented to the finalist by the MUGB national director to the finalist deemed to have excelled in her own personal development through the process of the competition and who stands out as a role model to others.
  • A-Sisterhood Superstar This is presented to the finalist who has raised the most money for A-Sisterhood during her time as a Miss Universe Great Britain finalist.

A-Sisterhood

The Miss Universe GB brand provides a unique experience for young women from all walks of life to come together to fundraise as a unified group for good causes. The platform, provides an incredible opportunity for individuals to raise money in a way, which may not always be possible independently. In line with our commitment to the advancement of the female, Miss Universe Great Britain works with the not-for-profit organisation, www.a-sisterhood.org.uk. Through them we raise funds for a variety of female causes including www.nationalfgmcentre.org.uk which aims to end the end of this illegal practice by 2030; www.llamau.org.uk which is a homeless charity in Wales specialising in helping vulnerable women living on the streets; www.chhanv.org and Sheroes Hangout – a charity in India, which supports women who are survivors of acid attacks; and www.blackmambas.org which is South Africa’s first all-female anti-poaching unit protecting the rhino. The winner of Miss Universe Great Britain will visit each of these charities (including trips to India and South Africa) during her yea.
